Have you ever wondered how many calories does someone from another part of the world eats?

We surely did.

And when we searched online, there were very few posts about it and many of them were hard to follow and understand.

So we thought about simplifying all the information in a way simpler to digest infographic. And after hours and hours of work( more pleasure than work to be honest), we finished what we planned an it is exactly how we imagined!

Average Daily Calorie Intake per Capita

The average daily calorie intake per capita in 2015 was estimated around 2940 kcal.

In a study did in Briton , it was found that men and women are eating 50% more than they realized. Men ate around 3.119 kcal per day while claiming they ate only 2..065 while women claimed they ate around 1.570 while eating 2.392.

Asia

The Average Daily Calorie Intake per Capita rose by from 1961 to 2013, from an average of under 2000 kcal per day to over 2.800 kcal per day.

The average protein intake per capita per day in Asia is 77.57 grams while the average fat intake per capita per day in Asia is 72.66 grams. Keep in mind that the stats don't take into account any food wasted or not eaten at the consumption level.

Fun fact:

The Biggest Coefficient of Variation (which calculates dietary inequality) in 2017 was measured in Haiti.

Europe

The Average Daily Calorie Intake in Europe is the 2nd Highest, at about 3.300 kcal, a very small increase from the one registered in 1961, that was measured around 3.000 kcal.

The Average Daily Protein Intake in Europe is 102..16 grams, a 12 grams increase from the one registered in 1961 at 90.39 while the Average Daily Fat Intake is 128.96, a way bigger increase at almost 30 grams from the one measured in 1961 at 89.11. Keep in mind that the stats don't take into account any food wasted or not eaten at the consumption level.​

Fun fact:

The Country with the highest Average Daily Calorie Intake in the World is not USA as many may have thought, USA is in the second place only overtaken by Austria, estimated at 3.769.

Africa

The Average Daily Calorie Intake in Africa is estimated at 2..400, but with big differences between Southern Africa and Central Africa, the second having a way smaller calorie supply.

Africa has, predictably, the lowest fat daily intake and protein daily intake between all the continents at around 54.46 grams of fat and 61 .9 grams of protein.

Fun fact:

From the estimated 109.6 grams of protein available per person per day worldwide,69.78 are from animal origin while 39.82 are plant-based protein.

North America

The Average Daily Calorie Intake in North America is the highest from all the continentsat 3.660, a 33% rise from the one measured in 1961, at 2,800.

Americans spend in total an average of 200 billion dollars on fast food, being the biggest consumers fast food in the world. Every day, 1/4 americans eat at a fast food restaurant.

South America

The Average Daily Calorie Intake Per Capita is close to the World's Average, at 3.027 kcal, a very significant rise from the one measured in 1961 at 2..300 kcal.

The Average Daily Calorie Intake Per Capita Worldwide is said to plateau at 3.000, when Africa will reach a point in which starving won't be a problem anymore.

Oceania

The Average Daily Calorie Intake Per Capita in Oceania is around 3.214 kcalhaving the smallest rise from the one measured in 1961 at 3.021 alongside Europe.

Fun fact:

The Country with the Highest Average Alcohol Consumption per Capita per Year is Lithuania ,at over 13 liters of pure alcohol, while the lowest form the ones recorded is Indonesia at 1..42 liters of pure alcohol. No African Countries were measured.
