Everyone wants to know that "one" sport that can burn a shit-load of calories without much effort. I'm sorry to say I don't know of such sport, but I can give you 12 underrated sports that are fun and burn a big amount of calories. So, take notes, because after this article, I challenge you to try one of this out and message tell me how it went.
Ready with the introduction, let's give you what you came for!
1. Boxing

600-650 kcal/hour
Boxing is an underrated sport in a lot of ways.
The obvious reason why people take up boxing is because they want to know how to defend themselves. Boxing does not only provide that, but it gives you self-confidence in front of danger, something that is very valuable for a life without stress.
But that is not the only benefit of boxing. If you haven't tried it, you might think boxing is not really a sport that tires you. You just stay in a spot and throw punches, right?
Well, you couldn't be more wrong. Boxing is one of the most exhausting sports. Boxing for only about 3 minutes will make you understand what I am talking about. It requires constant burst of energy. That's why when you watch boxing matches, after the first 6 to 7 rounds, the boxers start to move less and use less energy.
Boxing clubs cost around 80 - 100 bucks per month so it can be pretty expensive, but it will be more fun than almost all other sports.
If you want to take up boxing, you will need boxing gloves and hand wraps. Together, that will cost around 60 bucks,so keep that in mind. The best boxing gloves you can find for a decent price are Everlast. You can find them on amazon here.
2. Swimming

600-700 kcal/hour
Yes, swimming might not be an underrated sports, but it is surely one everyone should try at least once in their life.Swimming is such a great thing for more reasons.
For once, if you are a teenager or child, swimming is proven to help you grow in size, especially the breast stroke. Yes, it might be a hard sport to learn, but is worth every minute. Just think about it. Every year, you go on holiday to the beach where you need to know how to swim.
Swimming is more common than you might think. The number may be around 3 billion people. Around 400.000 people die every year of drowning. That is a very surprising figure.
If you want to take u swimming, I would recommend finding a gym that has a pool as well, so you can combine your gym workouts with swimming(as cardio). There shouldn't be really other expenses if you have a swimming suit.
3. Jump Rope

650-750 kcal/hour
Even though this might not be a quote to quote sport, it is an activity fewer and fewer people do. Jumping rope is mostly seen as a childhood game, but it is one of the most reliable ways of burning extra calories.
The best thing about this activity is that it can be done anywhere, anytime and it doesn't require almost anything except, you guessed it, a rope. It is actually very convenient to do this as you don't need a gym membership of any kind.
Aside from being cheap and convenient, jumping rope improves coordination massively for your feet.
If you want to learn how to jump rope, here is an Wikihow article that will teach you that in 10 easy steps.
A jump rope can cost between 5 - 25 dollars, so this is a very cheap cardio option. The Amazon Recommended for Jump Rope is here.
4. Racquetball/ Tennis

500-600 kcal/hour
When you think of tennis, you think of a fun outdoors activity to do with a friend, not necessarily of burning calories. Well, tennis is both at the same time. Just one hour of tennis burns around 500 to 600 kcal, that is close to one hour of running. And, most of you will agree with me when I say, tennis is way more fun than continually running for 60 minutes.
If you don't have a friend able to play with you, you can easily go and play racquetball by yourself.
While a very fun sport, tennis requires a tennis court, racket and tennis balls. That can ramp up the cost to around 100 bucks for the equipment and 10-20 bucks for a 1 hour rental.
If you don't know how to play tennis, it will take you around 3 moths to learn to play decently, but more than 1 year to play consistently. But, it is all worth it, because tennis is one of the most entertaining sports to play.
5. Hiking

400-500 kcal/hour
Hiking might not be a sport, but is one of the best way to relax and enjoy nature while getting your cardio workout done. The best part is that all you need is a pair of sneakers and you are good to go.
Hiking is a completely a different way of doing cardio, so different that I think everyone should try it at least once. It is just so different from your everyday gym training. Hiking doesn't even feel like cardio, it feels like you are unleashed from your routine.
The big downside to hiking is that you need to be close to an area you can do it, otherwise you have to go out out of your way to do it and that can be an inconvenience.
One of the best things about hiking is that it won't cost you anything, unlike the other sports mentioned in this list.
6. Ice Skating

500-550 kcal/hour
Ice Skating may be one of the most fun activities to do during winter along side skying or snowboarding. But what if I told you that Ice Skating can burn the same amount of calories as fast walking or rowing.
When you just want to relax, but still have to get your workout in, this might be the best way for you. It might be a bit expensive to buy your own equipment if you do this very rarely, so, most of the times, you can rent it to save some bucks.
Ice Skating doesn't really depend on the weather, as most of rinks are indoors so it will be pretty easy to do this even in the summer.
Don't forget, if you have any questions, you can write them in the comment section and we will respond as soon as possible.
